Frequently Asked Questions

Can you customize the plans?

Yes. We can offer new plans for a small design fee.

Do you offer prefabricated kits?

We no longer have the facilities to manufacture the kits. One reason we stopped is due to more customers hiring contractors to build the kits, which made them more expensive than anticipated. These houses are affordable mainly if owner-built, with plenty of sweat equity. To purchase all the raw materials needed to build the kit as shown, you could budget $40 - $50 per square foot of floor plan. This does not include any labor to fabricate the kit pieces themselves.

What level of experience do I need to follow the manual and assembly instructions?

Our kit home plans certainly require some basic wood working and carpentry skills. When we manufactured and delivered the kits themselves, many homeowners built them with the aid of a local carpenter/contractor to make sure all went well. Now, building the kit requires a little more skill and space to do the work. Additionally, the carrying and cutting of larger timbers requires some extra hands or machines (tractor, forklift, etc). It is not rocket science, but does requires some tenacity.

Can you build the kit house for us?

We do not currently employ any carpenters, but depending on your location we could make some recommendations.
